Presents the outcomes and recommendations from the 3rd Agrometeorology Summit held in Tanna from 20 - 24 May 2013.

The Pacific developing member countries (DMCs) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are a diverse array of countries with widely varying topographies, cultures and economies, fragile natural resource environments, and prosperity, stability, and security that can be compromised by the impacts and consequences of climate change. The Pacific island governments view climate change as a priority issue, especially in terms of its potential impacts on food security, and need clear directions in addressing both issues.

Recommendations and conclustions of the workshopto increase local agricultural produce in the tourism supply chain in Vanuatu. 

Report assessing farmers' incentives and the conditioning factors that hinder or promote adoption of agricultural techniques under climate risk and evaluate its impact on food security in Niger.

As part of the preparedness towards any forthcoming disasters and continuous monitoring of the agricultural sector, the RRU in collaboration with FAO and DARD have established an early warning early action system that is run by the Risk and Resilience Unit (RRU) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB) to the agricultural extension officers. The department of agriculture has a total of 45 extension officers that are based on all of the 6 provinces covering almost all the area councils of every island.

The Monitoring Indicators Survey, developed with Intercluster guidance, engages real-time national data collection from the ground up through the even targeting of mobile users located throughout Vanuatu. The purpose of the Monitoring Indicators is to identify thematic hotspots and to track changes any over time.

These working papers have been compiled into a monograph to accompany the final report of project ADP/2014/013 and provide greater detail. Along with the final report and workshop papers, the monograph provides a record of research conducted under project ADP/2014/013 and makes this available to a wider audience interested in agroforestry systems in Fiji and Vanuatu.

The Invasive Species Flipchart is designed to support community groups working to address the issue of invasive species in Vanuatu. These groups can include farmers, NGOs and other agencies. Government ministries, high schools, universities and colleges may also find the chart useful.

The Coping with Climate Change in the Pacific Island Region (CCCPIR) Program Programme aims to strengthen the capacities of regional organisations in the Pacific Islands region and its member states to adapt to climate change and mitigate its causes.  The programme in Vanuatu (which has been operational for 8 years) was structured in 3 components in 2016: (1) Mainstreaming climate considerations and adaptation strategies; (2) Implementing adaptation and mitigation measures; (3) Climate change and education.

This Bislama handbook, published by CARE, provides useful information about innovative gardening techinques and strategies for small farmers. It includes step-by-step guides with helpful graphics on how to use natural pesticides, fertilisers, crop routation, and other techniques and tools to increase productivity in the garden.
