NAB Project Management Unit:
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) was established in 2011 by consensus among the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
GCF is mandated to play a central role in mobilizing and channeling the financial resources required to enable a paradigm shift towards low-emission and climate- resilient pathways in developing countries. The objective of the GCF is to raise $USD 100 billion per year in climate financing by 2020. Currently the fund has been pledged $USD 10.3 billion.
What is the NAB?
NAB stands for National Advisory Board on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction. It is a committee made up of government and non-government members whose primary purpose is to act as Vanuatu’s supreme policy making and advisory body for all disaster risk reduction and climate change programs, projects, initiatives and activities.
Who is on the NAB?
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an international environmental treaty negotiated at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Vanuatu signed the convention on 9 June 1992, and deposited its instrument of ratification on 25 March 1993. The treaty entered into force on 21 March 1994 once 50 Parties had ratified it.
Q: What is the NAB?
A: Vanuatu’s National Advisory Board on Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction, mandated by the Council of Ministers on 15 October 2012 to “Act as Vanuatu’s supreme policy making and advisory body for all disaster risk reduction and climate change programs projects disaster risk reduction and climate change programs, projects, initiatives and activities.” It fulfills this mandate by:

Vanuatu is classified as a non-Annex I party to the convention, which highlights its context as especially vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change and thus have special needs and concerns.
